Hormel Foods, United Way of Mower County and the Hometown Food Security Project are partnering with the Austin High School student body during Hunger Action Month to improve food security for young people in our community.

The entire student body of 1,600 will assemble 24,000 snack packs to fuel their peers participating in after school activities – and fill the school’s pantry – ensuring that every student has access to a nutritious snack.

Additional snack packs will be distributed to local food shelves and other organizations in the community. This packing event also provides an inspiring outlet for students to support each other and their community. During this Hunger Action Month, the combined student body will dedicate more than 1,600 collective volunteer hours to pack snacks provided by MATTER.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

To accomplish the task of packing 24,000 snack packs in one hour, we need volunteers to support the student-led effort.
